Tyne Cot Cemetery, Belgium - Amongst the Headstones
This panorama gives the viewpoint of a walker amongst the headstones. One can see how carefully the gardening has been completed and how commonly the rising sun crest of Australian soldiers appears on the headstones. One gets the impression of being in a forest of white headstones.
"There are more Australians buried here than in any other cemetery of the First World War: 1368, of which 791 are unidentified. The vast majority of these were killed in the battles of Broodseinde Ridge (4 October 1917) and Passchendaele (9-12 October 1917)". McLachlan 2007.
